About this wiki

Let's be clear: This site is an independent, unofficial project and is not formally affiliated with Project Canvas or any of its organising parties (or any of its current or potential competitors for that matter). That includes this wiki, along with the blog.

So why is it at the projectcanvas.co.uk domain then? That one is simple: Project Canvas is just a working name for the endeavour. The final name will be something totally different (just like Project Kangaroo was going to launch not with that name, but as 'SeeSaw'). As a result, the BBC, ITV, BT hadn't registered this domain because they don't have any need for it. And where better place to put a wiki that aims to be a complete, impartial collection of information on Project Canvas than projectcanvas.co.uk?

Intended for

This wiki has started off intended for an industry audience and use, so the content reflects that, but benefits to the consumer and audience are of course also covered here, so the general public should be able to learn lots from it as well.

To contribute
  • Currently, anyone can edit pages as an anonymous user (a few pages such as this one are locked).
    • Just look for the "edit" button at the bottom of each page.
    • More info on how to edit pages including things like markup syntax can be found at the Help page.
    • We will constantly review this, & in the future may make it a requirement to be a registered Wikidot user (Wikidot is where the wiki is hosted).
  • If you don't want to edit the page, contributions (including sources where relevant) can be sent via email to moc.liamg|KUsavnaCtcejorP#moc.liamg|KUsavnaCtcejorP and we'll add them in.

Standards of content
  • All of the types of content listed under Wikidot's prohibited content section will not be allowed on this wiki, and will be deleted as soon as possible. It includes (but is not limited to) anything fraudulent, defamatory, obscene, or pornographic.
  • In addition, all content added to this wiki should be presented in an impartial manner. Any opinions or views for or against anything (such as those from any stakeholders involved or effected) must be clearly marked as such and not written to sound like fact, and should also be considered genuinely relevant to the section or page they are on.

Related sites
  • The Twitter account - @ProjectCanvasUK - where we'll post news as we find it, and do other Twittery things
  • The blog - blog.projectcanvas.co.uk website here, RSS feed here. This will be where we'll post more in-depth news and related info. We'll also post if there any big additions or changes to the wiki content. Over time we'll also try to get relevant parties' views on there too. If you'd like to contribute to that, please email us at moc.liamg|KUsavnaCtcejorP#moc.liamg|KUsavnaCtcejorP
  • The delicious tag - delicious.com/tag/projectcanvas unlike the blog and twitter account, this collection is not run by us (although we of course contribute to it). Rather it is all pages or sites that any delicious user has tagged as "ProjectCanvas".

Disclaimer

A longer disclaimer is here, but in summary: we'll try to keep this wiki up and running and located here, and we'll try to make it as accurate as possible, but we cannot be held responsible for either, so don't go using this wiki as some sort of lifeboat.
